Analysis ruins reading,
I just want to enjoy the book,
Let the words wash over me,
Experience the story.
I don’t want to think about it.
I want to sit back and watch it unfold,
Not stare at it hard
Searching for nuances,
I asked, did you notice the bird names?
And they gasped,
In How could I have possibly missed that?
Dare I say, they gasped in surprise,
But this was analysis –
Symbolism theme blending and blurring together.
Finding them there in the story,
Like birds in a landscape,
Hiding in plain sight,
And then flying towards us
And then overhead
Did not ruin the scenery.
It gave it depth.
